Worship

The XNC Worship & Arts Ministries serve the church’s mission of “turning all people into passionate followers of Jesus Christ” by providing opportunities for people to use their talents to glorify God and encourage others.  We believe that our worship not only expresses but also forms our Christian faith.  As we are called to worship “in Spirit and in truth” (John 4:23-24), we strive to create worship that is spirited, truthful, faithful, and presented to God with excellence.

The Worship Choir is our largest and most visible area of ministry.  All singers, ages 15 or older, are welcome to participate (no special skill is required, only a willingness to lend your voice to our “joyful noise”!).  In our worship services, the choir leads as an extension of the congregation as we glorify God through song.  The choir also presents several musical programs throughout the year, of which our annual Easter production represents the greatest effort and achievement.  If you’d like to take part, simply join us for practice in the sanctuary on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm. (Note: The choir will be on break during July.)

The Praise Team is a small vocal ensemble that assists in the leading of our congregational singing.  Other vocalists – even those who are not able to contribute to the music department on a regular basis – may consider serving as soloists or may form ensembles, sharing special music either individually or in small groups. Xenia Nazarene also offers opportunities for younger singers through the children’s and youth departments.

Instrumentalists find a rewarding place of service in the Praise Band. This opportunity to serve God through music richly enhances our worship and our experience of God’s presence.  Interested instrumentalists should speak with Pastor Brannon about the level of musical proficiency required.

A talented and faithful group of people support our worship services as part of our Technical Team.  These crew members work on a rotational basis with our sound, lighting, media, and video equipment. Because of the diverse tasks of the technical crew, we require several people in each service, so we are continuously accepting new recruits.  Although no special skill or knowledge is required (we will happily train you!), we are always looking for people with experience in computers, design, audio and/or video engineering, electronics, or climbing ladders!

People with a more dramatic flair will find a place of service on our Drama Team, which prepares dramatic sketches and full-length plays for worship and special outreach events. In addition to actors, this area of ministry is open to anyone interested in working with costumes, sets, lighting, makeup, or as stagehands.

It is easy to see that it takes many people of various talents and gifts to carry out these ministries; we are grateful to all who serve so faithfully.  It is our ultimate goal that our efforts will bring glory and honor to God and create a space in which the church might have a transforming encounter with Him.
